Chamonix and the Alps - Day 3
Monday we broke camp as clouds gathered over the mountains. We had hoped to take the Brevent gondola and cable car for high mountain views of Mont Blanc and Aguille de Midi from across the valley, but it had closed for the season the day prior. Instead we enjoyed a leisurely day walking around Chamonix, a bit of shopping, and taking yet more pictures as the light changed dramatically with the coming storm. Deb got me back to Geneva in perfect timing for my evening flight back to London.

That’s what we did. What I can’t put into words as well is how soulful this weekend was. As much as I love being in London and am enjoying being a “city-person,” the mountains are, well, home. There is some sort of calming and sense of belonging inherent to being in that environment that defies verbal language.
